The Observatory for the Information Society, based on the evidence of a study titled “Current situation and prospects of the Information and Telecommunications Sector” that was brought in public in the middle of December, foresees recovery of the domestic Information & Telecommunications enterprises. IOVE (Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research) prepared the study together with SEPE’s support.

It should be noted that the Observatory makes specific proposals to the Greek ICT enterprises by saying that they should adopt a different mixture of strategy, depending on the size, their operation time period and scope of works so as they gain the benefits from the wider – as expected - growth of the sector.

The best way of using the verb “make business” is to utilize the actions and support programmes that have been established within the framework of OPIS. Thousands of small and medium enterprises acquire the motive and significant funds so as to upgrade their infrastructure thanks to actions and support programmes like “METEHO”, “G0 0NLINE II”, and “E-BUSINESS”. These programmes assist them in making their websites and have access to the Internet, in using technological tools that will help them to better manage opportunities – and risks- existing in the business environment.

Significant changes in the provision of education as well as in the methods, forms, and effectiveness of the services provided to the educational community and to citizens will be provided by the two actions of OPIS i.e. e-school and e-university. E-school relates to the upgrade of infrastructures in the first-level and second-level education; e-university relates to the support of the services provided to teachers, students and all other citizens and enterprises making transactions with universities. Both programmes will provide the educational system with the opportunity to make a digital ‘jump’ by upgrading the educational processes and saving time and money.

The patient is placed in the center of health treatment processes, the citizens’ service is the key objective and the technological infrastructures form the starting point for rational organization, transparency and acceleration of all processes of administration and management of the first-level and second-level treatment. The development of decentralized Regional Health Divisions (DYPE) in conjunction with the introduction of integrated information systems and the inclusion of hospitals, health centers and other health treatment units in the national telecommunications infrastructure may change to a great extent the existing environment in the sector of public health.

The visitors of Ancient Olympia and especially young people will soon enjoy a new method of access, familiarization and information on the magnificent archaeological findings of the area and on their historical and cultural background. Thanks to the use of new technologies, the "Digital Exhibition of the History of Olympic Games" will form another attractive and living approach of the space and history and will form the ideal supplement to a proper visit of the area and of the archaeological findings. By means of combining learning with entertainment and using a wide range of presentation and correlation methods of information, the digital exhibition will have a major contribution not only to the tourist and cultural development of the area but also to the conditions under which we are informed and live our history, the roots from which our country and culture comes from.
